OneWorld

OneWorld International is an organisation which uses the internet to promote human rights and sustainable development across the world. The organisation consists of a network of websites under the OneWorld banner.

We have just completed the new OneWorld annual report (it can be downloaded in full by clicking here). They wanted it to feel richer and more considered than previous reports, and also to be more representative of the OneWorld network itself. There were also limitations. The report was text heavy and because of budget, would only have sixteen pages. As a result, using and paying for images would have been difficult, due to space and cost issues. To solve this problem, we decided to make typography the main feature of the report.

On the cover, all of the themes and issues in OneWorld’s remit were listed in a block, with the main categories bolder than the sub-categories. This made it immediatley clear what OneWorld as an organisation was about and showed the breadth of their knowledge on these issues.

On the inside front and back covers, the same theme was carried through, with all of OneWorld’s partner organisations listed (there are over 1500 of them!). Again this showed in a simple but visually strong way the size and breadth of the network itself. The rest of the pages were laid out to a clear and legible grid which made best use of the space available. The report was also printed on Brand X, a 100% recycled stock. So, what we ended up with was a visually and conceptually richer, more interesting report which more closely represents the nature of the OneWorld network.
