Forum for the Future

"We at Forum for the Future are impressed by Ethical Media's dedication to finding solutions that suit our needs, avoiding a one-size fits all product. Having experience in the sectors in which we work makes for a partnership which is productive, cost-effective and enjoyable."
Tim Aldrich, Forum for the Future.

Forum for the Future had a range of websites for its different programmes, that had sprung up as and when needed. When looked at in overview, this suite of sites lacked consistency, were difficult and costly to update. The general feeling amongst staff was that they did not accurately reflect the organisations and programmes they were representing. There were two real reasons for this attitude, one is that the webmaster was not able to accurately reflect the views of, or meet the demands of the different programmes, and secondly unable to update frequently enough match the pace of work.

Initially, we implemented our emKnowledge Content Management software on three of Forum's websites. This enabled web users with no knowledge of html to make updates to their pages, apply a certain amount of styling and link to documents or other pages.

Interest in the site mushroomed. People now felt that the site represented the authentic voice of the organisation and chose it as their first port of call to find out what was going on in Forum. It has empowered staff to take control and have their say.

We also made low-graphics versions of all the sites so that they are Bobby compliant, making them accessible for visually-impaired users.

Such has been the success of the project, that we have used feedback from Forum's users to help us design the latest version of emKnowledge. This allows our clients to go even further, using a sophisticated workflow management system, access control and the ability to develop private extranet sites easily and affordably.
